Last week we had the honor to host a keynote speaker from Stora Enso at our industry meet-up event in Tallinn – Sustainability Director of Packaging Materials Division, Jesse Rep! Jesse introduced us to the Stora Enso carbon reduction goals and commitments as the business as usual no longer exists.
By offering renewable materials, Stora Enso is one of the industry leaders to help the packaging industry to be more sustainable. Customers demand more sustainable packaging which makes the industry’s innovation efforts targeted to develop packaging materials that can replace fossil-based non-renewable materials.
The first steps begin with the wood that comes from sustainably managed forests that are FSC and/or PEFC certified. This has allowed Stora Enso to make truly sustainable products that help address some of the most pressing global issues such as climate change.
The second step is sustainability in operations. Minimising the environmental impact of paper mills and studying the possibilities to reduce fossil CO2 emissions in all operations have been Stora Enso’s goals towards 100% regenerative solutions.
“Everything that’s made from fossil-based materials today can be made from a tree tomorrow”
